Jennifer c. Johnson, PH.D.

 

Jennifer Johnson is a licensed psychologist and Certified Forensic Evaluator in Oregon. She obtained a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of San Diego and a master’s and doctoral degree in clinical psychology from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas. During her graduate training, Dr. Johnson obtained didactic and practical training in forensic assessment and treatment in a variety of clinical and forensic settings, including county jails, probation, juvenile detention, inpatient hospitals, and substance abuse diversion programs. Dr. Johnson subsequently completed a postdoctoral fellowship specializing in forensic psychology at Augusta University/East Central Regional Hospital in Augusta, Georgia. This fellowship provided additional specialized training in treatment and evaluation with forensic populations in inpatient and outpatient settings. Referral questions included competency to stand trial, criminal responsibility, civil commitment evaluations for the state psychiatric hospital, violence risk assessment, and sexual violence risk assessment. Dr. Johnson is published in the areas of violence risk assessment, psychopathy, and decision-making. Before joining Northwest Forensic Institute, Dr. Johnson was employed for two years as an inpatient psychologist on a forensic unit and as a forensic evaluator for the state of Georgia through Augusta University/East Central Regional Hospital. She has been employed by NWFI since 2018, where she conducts evaluations considering fitness to proceed, criminal responsibility, mental state/diminished capacity, sentencing mitigation, risk assessment, and psychosexual evaluations. In addition to evaluation, Dr. Johnson provides consultation to attorneys, judges, community providers, and others interested in the intersection of mental health and legal proceedings. Dr. Johnson is also a supervisor for the postdoctoral fellowship program at NWFI.
