Danielle Therson, Psy.D.

 

Danielle Therson is a licensed psychologist (OR & WA) and a certified forensic evaluator in Oregon. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and Spanish from Southern Methodist University, as well as a master’s degree in forensic psychology and a doctoral degree in clinical psychology from the University of Denver (DU). Throughout her graduate training, Dr. Therson received experience in forensic assessment in a variety of correctional and clinical settings, including county jails, federal prisons, outpatient clinics, and adolescent residential treatment centers. After graduating from DU, Dr. Therson completed her internship at the United States Medical Center for Federal Prisoners in Springfield, Missouri. During that time, she conducted court-ordered evaluations, delivered expert testimony, and provided consultation and training to correctional staff. After earning her doctorate, she completed her postdoctoral residency at the Fourth Judicial District and Regional Psychological Services Division in Minneapolis, Minnesota. There, she received specialized training in a variety of criminal and civil forensic evaluations, including competency to proceed, criminal responsibility, violence and sexual risk assessment, juvenile certification to adult court, and civil commitment as mentally ill (MI) and mentally ill and dangerous (MI&D). She has also published in the area of outpatient competency restoration. Dr. Therson currently conducts evaluations with both adult and juvenile examinees. Her practice with Northwest Forensic Institute consists of fitness to proceed, criminal responsibility, mental state/diminished capacity, sentencing mitigation, violence risk assessment, psychosexual, and personal injury evaluations; Dr. Therson also offers consultation services to attorneys and government agencies. When Dr. Therson is not working, she values spending time with her family, doing yoga, and traveling.
